NewsLetter #1

Hi guys,

While hoping that you are all having the utmost out of these summer days, we would like to keep in touch with you even through these non-academic season.

This is the first among a series of newsletters which we, as the new executive of the GUG will be distrubting to let you know about our incentives, their outcome and what's in the pipe-line. It is evident right from the start that, as a team, we are striving to give our utmost, blending a wide range of skills and prior experience with enthusiasm and dedication.

Our aims stray far from those of towering over the students as a vertical organisation; but more than ever before we'd like to stand on horizontal basis with you. To cater for this we are presently reaching the ultimate steps in modifying the GUG website, rendering it more practical and easy to use. The link between the GUG and all the other Gozitan students would run a smoother match if you voice your proposals and articulate your complains. This would help to breed team spirit and boost our motivation.

Furthermore, the GUG is envisaging the idea of widening its spectru m, by reahcing out for the Gozo sixth form and Mcast. We cradel a strong belieif in the Gozitan students' potentiality; rightly perceiving them as individuals who can exercise agency, and who are not simply passive subjects waiting to be instructed or programmed. We could greatly benefit from a fusion of diverse ideas and perspectives that each member can offer. For these reasons, we aim to produce something that would be ground-breaking and inventive. We are our own best resources, and through our shared identites we can work out and finally achieve a set of common goals.

Following the feedback we got from vairous members, we are presently discussing problems with regard to transport and luggage charges. We would surely let you know about the negotiated outcome.

Moreover, we are currently trying to put a KSU proposal into actuality, with regard to giving Gozitan students the option to sit for their examination in the ascribed locations in Gozo. Yet this does not depend entirely on our efforts, but the admission is mainly derivable from higher institutional consensus and approval. We are also striving upon accomodating the requests of those students whosecourse demands months of training and practice work in Malta during the summer months, in order to have it all the more student-friendly.

GUG definitely means grueling work; all the way from the brainstorming stage to production. Yet we are more than determined that our dedication and commitment coupled with your input will certainly pay off!

We would also like to congratulate the new KSU executive, who has received the hand-over in the beginning of last June. Furthermore, we would like to forward our appreciation to Vivienne Bajada who is now part of KSU while thanking her for the post she used to serve so efficiently within the past GUG executive.

Also please note that our website www.gug.org.mt is currently being refurbished, and a temporary page is available now which has all the updated accommodation lists including pictures of apartments, containing more details than ever which you are free to contact should you require renting apartments!

And with regard to you guys, we will soon get back to you with further news :)
